     Welcome to my forensic website.

My name is Ron Scott and I am the former Commanding Officer of  the Mass. State Police Ballistics Section where I supervised two labs and seven forensic ballisticians with 1200-1700 cases annually conducting investigations and examinations for 350 cities/towns, all U.S. Military services, State/Federal agencies except FBI.

I have worked literally thousands of cases and testified hundreds of times at all levels of the courts in numerous states.  I have also testified in depositions, before the Massachusetts legislature, military and departmental courts-martial, and provided consultation to Mass. Congressman. author Francis Russell (Sacco and Vanzetti: The Case Resolved) and scholar Scott J. Ross; students of forensic science, private individuals, families, and Innocence Projects.

In the last several years I have performed work on several notable cases such as the Hell's Angels/Outlaws shooting in Sturgis, SD (State v Midmore/Wilson),  Nigerian Parabe Oil Platform and villages of Opia and Kenyan (Bowoto v Chevron), U.S. Army in Iraq, U.S. Marines in Afghanistan,  Calta v North American Arms,  Ryan v Glock, shootings on Arizona Indian Reservations,  police involved shootings in CA, IN, NY, NH, FL; and shootings involving hunting, armed robberies, homicides, suicides, and non-fatal incidents.

In 2006 I reviewed the Utah case of State v Peter Montoya for a Petition for Post Conviction Relief and presented testimony and exhibits showing that he was convicted on scientifically impossible evidence which resulted in a new trial.

Between 1979 - 1992 I supervised or conducted forensic examinations that involved organized crime, armored cars, banks, police involved, suicide-by-cop, hunting, drug related and literally every conceivable type of shooting that could occur and was a member of the State Police Firearms Review Board.

Presentations have been made at local universitites and colleges, legal seminars, police academies, and civic organizations.

Training in gunshot wounds and wound ballistics by Dr. George Katsas;  I have lectured at numerous EMT symposiums.
