Equipment & Instrumentation
I utilize high end instrumentation which is calibrated on a regular basis to NIST traceable measuring standards.
Leitz Comparison Macroscope with several alternative combinations of Zeiss eyepieces and turret objectives along with a trinocular mounted Canon S3 IS digital camera that permits live image capture to a PC. Scope illumination options are fiber optic and/or mounted incandescent stage lighting with evidence mounted on modern Leica cartridge and bullet holders.
Leica stage micrometer for macroscopic measurements.
A triple boom stereo microscope with 5 megapixel camera and software which can measure evidence to 100,000th of an inch precisely and capture images.
Unitron Measuring Projector with several stage options for holding evidence which can measure in both millimeters and inches to 1/1000th
Toolmakers microscope with a calibrated measuring reticle capable of measurements to 1/1000 of an inch.
Images, whether provided by others or self-generated can be magnified, enhanced, and resized by several photo editing software programs and saved to any file format. PowerPoint presentations upon request.
